  • Needle settings for a OS 50 heli.

Can anyone give me the factory or most common needle settings for a OS50 heli engine? Also what glowplug would you use for this engine?

My OS50SXH setting (in two R50's) are a bit richer on the low end, and a bit leaner on the top end in comparision to Ade's settings, but there probably isn't much in it.

My OS50's run very cool, but have lots of power

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

How do you do that "at the low end and top end"?
          Belair :?

the idle mixture adjustment screw is also called "the low end needle"

same goes for the main needle too.

Doh, sorry Belair, I shouldn't have dipped into techno speak !

"Low End", it the idle adjustment needle, which is the little screw located between the "prongs" of the U shaped, copper, "thing" on the side of the carb, just next to the mixture needle. The screw, which is actually a cam, only rotates about half a turn in total. The "neuteral" setting is with the screw slot parallel with the two "arms of the copper U. As I said it only rotates a very small amount, therefore any adjustment of this screw will be tiny.

The "High End" is the knurled knob, which is the main mixture adjustment. This has a little spring clip, that makes it "Click" when turned. Therefore if someone says "I richened it by a couple of CLICKS" you'll know what they mean (after you read and understood what I've written below )

Both of these two adjustments, RICHEN the mixture when turned in a anti-clockwise direction (i.e. undoing them), and LEAN the mixture when turned in a clockwise direction (i.e. doing the up)

              Clear now ?

That's clear now Janek, thank you very much. I'll try it out this week-end.
