My decision to buy the Vbar control was entirely for the convenience of not taking a laptop to the field.
As i guess you know, you havent needed a laptop to do FBL setup with most of the current FBL for quite a while now. I've never used Vcontrol but I genuinely cant recall the last time i needed to take a laptop to the field, it's all integrated these days.

When I switched to Vbar control, the only systems with TX integration to a reasonable level other than Mikado was Jeti with Spartan, and Graupner with their own FBL unit. Plus, as I said, I was already flying Vbar on everything, so changing to any other system would have meant new FBL units across the board.
I do know a guy with an Ikon2 and a DX8, and I have used the TX integration, but we still needed a laptop for things like tail limits, setting up banks, governor and so on. For what you can change, the user experience is not even on the same planet as even the old V Control.
I don't know any Spirit pilots so I can't comment on that.

Think that’s it, been a long time in the hobby and don’t have many photos of the early years.

...and let the flying be second nature!
Technically I did have a Futaba FF7 (I think that was the model), just when I was starting in the hobby. But before I got my first heli, it was clear the 2.4ghz was the way to go so I sold the Futaba and got the DX7. Soooo, I had that TX in my possession briefly, but barely even turned it on, let alone flying with it.
