More expensive than I expected. Almost as much as an M2 Explore, which is a lot considering there are no carbon fibre frame parts, no expensive fibreglass canopy, cheaper blades, cheaper battery, no battery tray and so on.

Maybe they'll do an M1 Explore eventually and get the price down.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Bear in mind I'm discounting the Explore heavily, If you check other UK based retailers it's a lot more expensive. The M1 has all metal head and swash vs the Explore's plastic parts, so it's a bit of give and take on component prices. Most of the cost in the canopy is in the paint job, not the material of construction.

The nearest rival for the M1 is the Trex 150X. If you compare the two the M1 is cheaper, at least at the price I'm selling.

I did notice that, and took both your none discounted prices for both, which puts the difference at just £23.

I'm sure you'll still sell an absolute truck load of them.

As for the Trex 150X, I always thought it (and the original Trex 150) were seriously over priced themselves. Thinking about it, most micros are these days. I don't know what happened. Look at the massive difference between in price between the original Blade 180CFX (which I had), and the Blade Fusion 180. The Fusion was over 50% more expensive than the 180CFX and it didn't even keep the Castle ESC that was on the 180CFX.

Yeah, I need to 'fix' my non-discounted price. The RRP has gone up but i held my discounted price, for the moment at least.

For sure those looking for a dirt cheap little micro heli will probably look elsewhere, there are some good options out there. The M1 is trying to raise the micro game, that inevitably adds cost.

            My order is in

I've been waiting for a more powerful / rigid Blade MCPX BL2 and have heard loads of good things about OMP and the M2 (original price not withstanding). I hope the M1 is a good alternative to the Blade as I really enjoy flying the MCPX in my back yard but its proven very costly to repair and quite fragile. I've had 3 of them and they've all had various problems which have not been 100% user (crash) related like main board failing and burnt out motors 30 flights in. Only 1 of them is working now although nowhere close to how it flew when new...

Anyway, when should we expect the new OMP M1's to be shipped to customers who have paid their deposit?

            Thanks!

The information i have is that they should leave the factor by end of this month so I'll have them soon after that. I'm stating mid-November to give myself a little float. I've already ordered enough helis from the factory to more than cover the current volume of pre-orders, but the pre-orders are coming in fast so it looks like I'll soon have to put an extra order in.

Unfortunately I cant guarantee delivery 100% because I'm as the mercy of the factory, there is always a chance of delays that are out of my control. What I can promise is to supply helis to anyone who has pr-ordered as soon as they arrive. In the eventuality that my requested shipment doesnt all come in one batch pre-orders will be filled in the order that they were placed.

                Steve,

I have not bought a M2 yet due to concerns about job cuts just around the time you started to get them into stock. Since then, I've reconsidered buying an M2, but additional batteries for the M2 seem to be like hens teeth. Are we likely to have the same issue with the M1?

                Cheers!

Batteries are a real pain. I have two orders in transit but they are taking ages. My first shipment have been in transit for about 3 months and I still dont have an ETA.

What I hope is a temporary work around is that future heli shipments will contain two batteries in the box with the heli. This can still travel by airmail so wont get delayed like the large battery shipments have done. It's clearly not the complete answer but should at least give the option of having two batteries with the heli rather than one, which is a start.

I'm working on other battery options too.

OK, Good to know 👍 Just to be clear, I'm 100% aware that the battery availability issue is out of your control. I'm pretty sure this is all to do with much tighter customs or shipping controls on lithium batteries and other hazardous items. Assuming future shipments do come with two packs in the box, do you intend to offer the extra battery pack as an option to buyers when the pre-order? Any idea what the cost of the packs for the M1 will be yet?

                    Cheers!

The M1 batteries will be £9.99. Yes, the plan would be to allow pre-order customers to order at least 1 extra battery with their heli. I cant commit 100% to this until i know for certain that I'll get the extra packs. I will be ordering a large quantity of spares and more batteries along with the M1 helis, but I'm not sure if they will arrive at the same time.

Looking forward to the M1 for those long indoor winter flying months. It's basically the same size as the old Blade 130X, but without the fragile tail. Will weigh a bit more though, so require higher HS.
