Non spektrum Sat's

Is there any reason not to safely run a non spektrum Sat on a genuine rx, any reliability issues or range problems, have a couple of lemon and redcon Sat's but just wanted to ask advice regarding them

I have used the Lemon DSMX sats on a 450 and a heli I bought 2nd hand was running on a non branded bright green DSMX sat (but I didn't use it as I changed out all the electrics anyway).

I had some range issues that I suspected were the Lemon sats but later discovered was a problem with the TX. I have not heard of any problems with them, but in the interest of being as safe as possible, I stick with the genuine Spektrum sats on the bigger helis.
