  • Skid Clamps

    Hi Folks,

Running out of space for my gear, anyone hang their Heli's on the wall and use skid clamps ?
Looking for ideas and pics if possible ?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Yep, I've got 4x700 and 1x800 size heli hung on the wall in very tight formation. If this is what you are after doing, I'll take more photos and explain. The alternative is to put up some shelves.

My plan is to massively downsize my living space, sell my flat and just rent a room. So my plan is to get something a bit like a portable clothes rack - basically a metal stand with a bar across the top and heli skids can just hook over the bar. Then below that I'll need another bar going across to support the tails.

Should be very compact and not require making holes in the wall.

I use a hanging rail similar to what you would find in a wardrobe, then i bought some foam balls, put a slit into them and used them on the tail fin to stop the tail damaging the wall.

Towel rails are ideal for the job.

Yep, that's pretty much what I did, only I fashioned the box section from wood. The helis that are facing nose-down are held from their tail fins by a cheap steel shelf bracket that is bent over to slide sideways through the hole in the fin. Simples.

This is the way I've hung mine although I was going for looks as well as function. It's a SAB 770mm blade mounted off the wall on two spools. Easily holds three or four 550+ sized machines. Mine had to look good though as it was in the dining room and my missus wasn't going to let me put up a wooden rail!
