Lipo Question for the experts

if you have a lipo that on a balange charger shows a balanced voltage across each of the cells plus shows a proper voltage across the whole battery, can it fail to work properly when put under load.

Example last night flew a 500 put a fully charged lipo on it 6s it took off but when I opened it up to see it climb rather than that the head slowed down- I think the esc is faulty anyway were changing that but I wanted to know if it was likely that the lipo was knackered too.

The cells can show the same voltage but all be different in their ability to hold that voltage when you put a load on them. If just one cell sags you will notice it


I have a couple of 4s TP packs that balance and charge fine but are now of little use for keeping my 450 away from the ground

I'd very much doubt it's your ESC...if it's the Align one they just catch fire when they die

I've seen the same as Phil. I have several packs where one cell is not as good as the others, so when you apply load the dodgy cell just gives out and it can't supply the demanded current, so the voltage (& performance) collapses.

Try plugging in a cell monitor, put the motor under load and see if any cells drop off in voltage!
