  • Newbie (ish) transmitter problems

    Hi all

I have been flapping about with helis for a little while, and just bought a Walkera/Dragonfly.

The question is, can I use my Sanwa transmitter with this radio gear? Its the tranni I use with the other two, but doesn't seem to work with that in the kit...even though its the same frequency and crystals.

    Any expert advice, greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    Peter

what model radio?, if its old then the wiring to the servo needs to be swapped, if its new like a rd6000/8000 you need to switch the modulation to ppr (ppm reversed), all this assumes ppm not pcm modulation which i presume is what the walkera rx is using
hope this helps, let me know

Thanks for a really quick reply my friend....

Yikes! PPM, PCM????? Yes its a Sanwa 6000, but its been a while since I had to set it up. I have an Eco8 for outdoors (not offen) and a Picollo for indoors (but the tail motor slips)....and I confess, I haven't flown in over a year. I was contemplating selling up, looked towards ebay, and thought "Ooo, that looks nice...I want to fly again!"...haha

Any chance of some suggestions on setup for radio?

I've been using the tranni from the kit, but no air under the skids yet. Must look up the setup...if I recall properly, I had the same with the Pic, and it was the flybar/paddles.

      Cheers

Robo, sorry im not familiar with the walkera, so cant really suggest a good setup for it, the sanwa rd6000 has a screen menu to change signal modulation, the choices are; PPM, PPR, or PCM. To "talk" to other makers PPM recievers (which I suppose is what you have in the walkera), modulation must be set to PPR in the transmitter

          Hi

Thanks for that. As you say, there are 4 modes on here. PCM1 PCM2 PPM and PPR. I have tried all four, without success. Does this sound wierd, or am I doing something else wrong?

I know when I bought my Piccolo, I had to swap a few plugs...just to put the right device on the right channel (it was right stick throttle etc at first), but to get nothing...I dunno?

Again, I thank you for the advice. Hopefully someone with a Walkera or Dragonfly can help.

Also, I would like to add a point about the kit. ARTF with flight sim software and lead.....but the Tru-Flite software is not supported! On the official website, it is claimed as an illegal copy?? Anyone reading this, please be aware.

            Crystal

What make is the crystal in the reciever, I think they have to be paired, as I have tried this with my Feeda dragon fly with the original crystal and a matching JR crystal in a JR642. My crystal is soldered onto the all in one board and I have been reluctant to change it because of this. I am not 100% on this so I would also be interested in the outcome, or any other info that anyone has got.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

            And a DX8 too

              Hi

I have tried both ways. Using the crystal out of the Dragonfly in my tranni, and the crystal out of the Dragonfly in my Sanwa. Tried swapping the mode PPM etc...again, still nothing. I would be interested should anyone get this to work...in fact I'd be delighted. The main tranni I use, runs the Piccoboard, and Sanwa receiver AND the GWS in my Eco8. I am used to the feel of it, and would dearly love to be able to use it.

I have had some air under the skids though. I left this hobby quite some time ago, and now I remember what a buzz I get

              Cheers
