  • Did Align miss the point here or am I crazy?

Regarding the turnbuckle links for the Trex FL head (links between the swash and the grip arms).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they needed to be one RH and one LH thread on the link rod, so that with the links snapped on in place, turning the link rod would expand or contract the link assemby.

Sooooooo, I have a pair of these turnbuckle-looking links and they have RH threads on both ends Maybe they're not supposed to be turnbuckles?

On my recent Aligns they have RH and LH, with the line engraved around the turnbuckle. Earlier ones had dual RH.

Yeah I did bit of searching and I can see that the 550/700X links say they are turnbuckles. I had just assumed the FL ones were as well but they actually do not claim to be

It's no biggie, I have plenty of non-turnbuckle links and still get the tracking spot-on, so I can cope

Yeah, only the very latest links (for the 700X) are turnbuckles.

I had the ones you mention when I bought my 700L. After a crash, I had a bent link and got the newer ones.

I have to say, they are fantastic if you're setting up with a Soko heli tool. I'm not the biggest fan of the Soko setup method, but if you have turnbuckles everywhere, it's so easy to get a perfect setup.

Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

I don't have the Soko thing, I just use a digital pitch gauge and keep adjusting until it's as close as humanly possible.

It is frustrating that Align didn't use Turnbuckles ares ago, but they aren't the only ones. Often it means you cant get the setup quite perfect due to having to adjust in increments of one full turn only.

Are left hand threads more expensive

I use one turnbuckle and one fixed link on my fbl heads, as I find it makes fine tracking adjustments (relatively) error free when the brain fade occurs, as the one to be adjusted is easy to identify.
