thanks for the advice, I might just change them anyway so that i know they are done, With the engine bearings is there something very special about these bearings? £20 for 1 rear bearing ! I can order both from a bearing supplier for about £7 looking at the pictures of the genuine OS ones they dont look anything special

No, nothing special about the stock OS bearings at all I used to always get bearings from RCBearings.com and they're much cheaper even coming from the USA. I had the best longevity with the stainless steel ones.

The only difference with the OS ones is they use a phenolic cage and the RC bearings/simply bearings use a steel one. Go for a premium brand from either and they're good though

OK so i hit a brick wall on setup, I cannot get the aileron arms level. Im guessing where the previous owner has fitted the DFC head he has used the original linkages from the previous head and this has caused the mismatch in length. Here are some photos to explain but basically when the blades are at 0 degrees pitch the arms sit very high and i have about 40 degrees of negative available but much less positive pitch. I guess i just need longer linkage arms?

Blades at 0 degrees pitch sorry picture is at 90 degrees its not on my PC and i cant change it

Looks like they've used the wrong main shaft for that head to me. Either that, or the bell crank to swash linkages are too short.

EDIT: Pull the main shaft, and see if it says DFC on the part that goes through the bearings. If it doesn't, then it's the wrong shaft.

As a side note. There are two versions of the DFC main shaft. One that reaches a third bearing block below the main gear, and one that doesn't. You can tell them apart by the amount of material below the lower jesus bolt hole.

Yeah, the DFC head uses a shorter main shaft. Possibly the original main shaft is still fitted?

It's relatively easy to cut down and re-drill a main shaft.

Wow. I didn't know it was that bad!

I just used the Align part finder and the expected two options came up.

What's really weird is that even on the latest 600N DFC combos, they supplied 3x bearing blocks, but the supplied main shaft doesn't reach the bottom one.

Also noticed that the linkage set for the dfc head are 10mm longer than the non dfc head. If the link was 10mm longer it would probably perfect as I just measured it. 32mm on standard head 40mm on dfc head so that would solve it but I will check the shaft now

If that main shaft is OK (not bent or chewed up or anything) then I think my approach would be longer links from the bellcranks to the swash so that the bellcranks can be level. It looks like the DFC links are all the way in so you might just want a few turns of room to play with to set the tracking and the rest of the excess can be taken up with the other links.

Ok so the shaft says 600N DFC on it. But the linkages after investigation are the shorter non dfc linkages. So I need to order up some DFC linkages for the extra length. Thanks for all the advice guys

Thanks to everyone who helped on this, She flew! rather well too. i followed the video posted at the very start of this thread on setting up the 3GX and that was spot on, just tail gain to adjust and work out that for some reason i could not bind my RX in Sbus mode and just had to apply power to bind then swap back to Sbus.

The longer links gave a perfect setup and apart from a bit of a crazy head speed on first spool up everything went well im back in the hobby !!!

i am finding starting it a bit painful as it keeps flooding and they hydraulic locking very quickly. is there a reason this would be happening?

Great news! Regarding the flooding / locking, I had that happen with an Align pipe and the solution was to tilt the heli over a bit on the pipe side when starting it, because what was happening is that fuel gets trapped in the pipe and then pours back into the exhaust port.
