  • OS 91 HZR rear bearing

    Hi,

Does anyone have a recommendation for the OS 91HZR stainless rear bearings?

I have been using these; 16003 SKF Deep Grooved Ball Bearing 17x35x8 Open - WychBearings.co.uk

which seem to give very good power, however they also corrode as I use 30% fuel and rag the sh1t out of it, so I have to change them once a year.

I heard somewhere that stainless steel ones are the way to go and wondered if anyone has had any success with them?

I have found this engine is intolerant of poor quality bearings. I used to use RC bearings ones however the engine never gave the smooth consistent power like
it does with the SKF bearing. And the SKF bearing is cheaper than the RC bearings one!

    Many thanks.

I would say once a year is acceptable maintenance - especially as you 'rag the sh1t out of it'

      /\ /\ What he said /\ /\

Rob Bingham (RCTintin) is quite vocal on this subject and does not recommend stainless steel bearing as they are too soft, he swears by the SKF bearings you are already using.

not in the 105 but I have experimented with a rubber sealed bearing on the OS50/55 and 91
pop the one seal out and add a little more grease and re-fit the seal
the nitro will not now rust the bearing and the good news is the rubber seal is not effected by the nitro fuel
since trying this I have not replaced a rear bearing in an OS engine
If possible to get the correct size at the time I fit SKF bearings

and my 50 and 91 get the you know what ragged out of them
