  • Dial Indicator / Fan Balancing

Some one made a good video/how to a while back about balancing and centering the fan hub assembly to minimise vibrations. I think it was Rob Bingham, but I could be wrong. Can't find it through searching. Has anyone got a link please?

Yeah, I've seen those thanks. I seem to remember seeing some illustrating the alignment with a dial indicator but damned if I can find it ha.

Is this worth a buy, or will it be poor quality and inaccurate?
Dial test indicator DTI gauge & magnetic base stand clock gauge TDC TE107TE108 | eBay

According to item description, it has 10mm travel and is accurate to 0.1mm.

I have one of those and I used it to align the start shaft / clutch on a Hirobo Sceadu. I know the result was far from perfect due to not having some kind of jig that would anchor everything in the right position. But I was able to to get it 'close enough for rock 'n roll' in any case.

I suppose it depends on just how accurate you need.

To be honest, I suspect my clutch assembly is out of balance more than it's off centre if that makes sense. I think getting it on the prop balancer will improve it on its own. My model isn't shaking itself to death by any means, but there is a vibe that's apparent through a wobbly tail in the hover.
