  • Which new 700 ?

So I'm looking at getting a new 700 size leccy heli. (do not want an Align)
I have a Kontronik Pyro 700-52 motor sat waiting...
What are peoples thoughts as to a good low headspeed airframe ?

I am struggling with finding what motors fit which airframes so this is making my decision of which heli to go for a little tricky.

For that motor,,Raptor E700,,mine flew great with that same motor, nice and light.

I also have that motor in a 7HV Ultimate, bit heavier but very good still.

My fave 700 has to be the Logo 700 but unless you custom make a shaft its no good.

The Minicopter Diabolo would be excellent. I'm running the Triabolo with a rewound 700 530Kv and using a 13 tooth TDR pinion and this is working really well. You also have a choice now of the Diabolo black edition and the L lightweight version.

The TDR I is also one of the original great low headspeed helis, if you can find a 2nd hand one. The Diabolo would let you gear for low headspeeds on 12s with that motor where the TDR overall gearing is a bit shorter, so you'd run a bit lower throttle unless it's possible to get a pinion smaller than 13 tooth.

The HD Cell 750 looks really good but is a bit pricey.

I dont think you could even buy a new TT E700 even if you wanted to. Thunder Tiger are all but out of the heli business, in theory they are supposedly still making a very limited range of helis but a check of stock of kits and spares in UK dealers doesnt paint a reassuring picture.

The new Goblin Black Thunders are quite light. The Trex 700X is light too (but you dont want an Align), Synergy E7 is another option. These helis all take motors with 30mm bolt spacing so should work with the Pyro, subject to having the right length shaft.

I have that motor in my Synergy E7se, really pleased with performance and not flying bonkers headspeeds either

As above really, logo700 but needs modification to fit. Fast Lad have a good deal on a Synergy E7SE at the moment which it would match perfectly, I've been eying this up personally as I've got a scorpion 520 ultimate which needs a place of residence.

            Synergy E7 Special Edition E7SE

The 700 goblins would suit it aswell, thunderT maybe?? Protos MAX v2 ?

Well, these days I don't think you can make any judgements based on UK stock. About the only brands you can really count on UK shops supporting at the moment are SAB and Align.

I could be wrong but I am still under the impression the E700 and 550 are still being made and supported by Thunder Tiger.

E700 and E550, along with the 360mm 450 (can't remember its name) are still "supported" by Thunder Tiger.

What's failed, or ceased to exist, is the distribution network, so getting parts isn't as simple as it once was.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

As I say, I could be wrong but I didn't think the kits or spares situation was so dire for the TT models.

Maybe I'm just lucky but on my first try on Google I am seeing: https://www.ercmarket.com/Thunder-Tiger-Raptor/

I was looking at UK dealers, but fair enough as you proved, they are available for purchase if you really want one. Ordering from Europe is no great hardship but with the way they have been losing distributors and models I cant help but conclude that the writing is on the wall for TT helis and buying one now might be taking a risk with future spares availability... but hopefully i'm wrong.

Your not lucky Sheryl you just had a look :-) There are several on eBay v2 for under £400. Having bought a used one and updated the head to v2 parts, stretched the tail and others odds and ends every item sourced from 2 UK model shops. They are down but not out. In all honesty not sure I would buy a new one though. I wouldn't be putting a pyro 700 in a logo 700.

                        My vote:

                        Diabolo,
                        TDF,
                        Used E700,

Plus 1 on the compass 7HV/ Chronos. Built like a tank and very dialed in and nice to fly. Shame you don't fancy an Align as they are great 700's and can be set up as a hooligans machine or sedate sunday flyer.

Yeah, at the very least it's a brand on the 'endangered species' list. I hope they can hang in there.

For me it has become the norm for some years now that I won't always have a UK source of spares for most of my helis so I'm used to that. Minicopter and Henseleit have always been a case of dealing direct with them and some other brands have begun doing that as well.

Indeed, the new Henseleit TDF does look very interesting, supposed to be very light. I still love the original TDR for shear simplicity but if I didn't have one I'd be looking at the TDF to fill that role.
