Lipos for trex 550L (again)

Hi,

Is anyone using (or used) this lipo in the 550L? Turnigy Heavy Duty 5000mAh 6S 60C Lipo Pack. Dimension: 146 x 51 x 57mm.
It is bigger both width and depth than the align 5200mAh 6s. I have not yet built up the heli so cannot assess the available space.

I had 2 align lipo's for my 550 & both were f####d within two years , I have a gensace which is 5 years old now & still works as good as new

I used the 40c Turnigy 6s 5000 packs on a stock 550E and found that the packs suffered badly and puffed quickly. I'm not a power mad 3D pilot at all.

If I were to go there again, I'd want to use the strongest packs possible and potentially use a slightly smaller pinion to reduce motor load while running the throttle at close to 100%. Plan B would be to convert to a 12s setup...

From what I've seen, you have to be quite careful with pack sizes on the 550L.

As well as having to fit between the side-frames, there are couple of screw heads are on the inside of the side-frames. These both take space; but might cause problems if the packs puff.
