  • HobbyKing lack of supply on Turnigy Batteries

Having been away for a year or so, I've come back to find that my favourite batteries (Turnigy Blue 6s 4000mah 40C) are now not available from the HobbyKing UK warehouse. I understand that import restrictions, perhaps because of the fire risk, are to blame. so, what are folks doing instead? Import from Hong Kong warehouse and bear the brunt of tax and shipping fees or is there a 3rd way?

Not as far as anyone's aware. Optipower, but they've just gone through price increases, Revolectrix appear to be a good alternative. There's a thread on here somewhere and I think Maj has a discount code.

Thanks for the steer. I note that Turing GRAPHENE batteries are available in the UK in selected sizes. These are new to me, what's the verdict on them here?

I use the graphene lipos in my cars and they work amazingly well. The 5000mah 4s 90c performs equally as well as a 100c 7000mah Optipower 4s. You need to size down though. The 5000mah graphene packs are the same physical size and weight as the 7000mah!

            Hi Si.
The Graphenes are exceptional for high C flights like 3 minute quad races.
They are big and heavy for the capacity, partly because they are clad in glass fibre sheets, prolly to stop them puffing.
            Also expensive.
But that doesn't matter, as each one comes in a beautiful box with a magnetic catch, and has its own little velvet pouch with draw-string...
            You think I'm kidding??

He's not kidding! I can definitely confirm though that a 5000mah 4s has a similar "real world" capacity to a 7000mah 4s. With the cars we race a 20 min final and both sets finish with around 15% capacity at the end of the final. Both still punching as well as they did at the start.

I can imagine they'd suit the smack 3d brigade very well.
