Just wanting to double check. Castle edge 160 has no bec, manual says there is no need to remove the red wire. So am I good to just connect the brown+red from the esc to one of my black+red bec wires and run a single extension?
Feels like a stupid question now but if I cook my esc I will wish I had asked!
    Cheers in advance

Wait for someone else to chime in but I am almost certain (99%) that I did not remove the red wire on my edge 80 or my 120. On my edge 50 with a BEC, I removed the red wire

Correct, if you remove the red wire the ESC wont work because with no BEC it needs the red wire to supply power to the LV side of the ESC, so leave the red connected. It should work ok as you describe though obviously you also need another line (or two lines) running from the BEC to the FBL/receiver.

Yeah bec has 2 output wires so one is coupled with the white aux wire, the other WAS with the orange throttle wire.
The esc did actually work fine with both the red and brown removed, but this is causing an issue with the telemetry, apparently I need the brown/negative connected...
If I remember right the castle link programmer does not work with the orange wire alone? Maybe it is the same issue with live link?

I wanted to keep a long story short but I suppose should have gone into more detail!
I have live link enabled and I HAVE esc telemetry through the msh brain2, back to my dx9. Problem now is, raise the stick and the motor starts to spool but it no less than half way it cuts out, same in either idleup, return to 0 throttle and I get 2 short beeps and 1 long = a radio glitch. Im hoping the missing brown wire is my issue I just wanted to be sure my esc wont pop when I connect them up

My biggest issue is having 10 wires and only 7 ports!!

my 160 edge has all wires in the plugs dude and it basically has a 2s battery plugged in to it so your allright. The only time you remove the red "bec" wire is if you are running an external bec and dont need the build in esc bec

Sweet! Got all 3 esc wires into a 2-1, Y connector now with one of the plugs from my external bec, so effectively joined. Fingers crossed its all good but the dragon says im not allowed to test it now, spooling helis makes noise apparently lol
