Popped out the field yesterday to have a fly solo again with my R60. Took it easy just doing simple circuits and a few stall turns. Did a few approach practices no problem, everything flying and working great.
I bring her back in to check fuel, about 3/4" in the main tank so I think, plenty for one last circuit and stall turn and then re-fuel.
Took her out did the above but then did another stall turn as my GV-1 is overspeeding (separate issue), coming back in, engine cuts out of fuel
So my instructor is next to me, I try to keep calm, bring her down, keep her moving forward across me and a bit of neg to keep the head speed up.
Unfortunatly, I didn't flair off the forward speed in time, and she caught a concrete path and flipped over
. I should have got back on pos pitch quicker and I know I could have saved her with flairing too, although i've never autoed in real life so i'm not beating myself up too much about it.
Damage - 1 main blade, flybar, tail blades, boom, torque tube, horizontal fin and a head link. The spindle, and main shaft did not get bent as fortuantly most of the head speed had bled off.
Still around £100 , most expensive tank of fuel ever lol.
I'm not overly bothered, it wasn't dumb thumbs, just dumb brain to not refuel. Won't make that mistake again!
Should have her back in the air for next weekend and I can't wait!

. Already fixed the head as I had a spare flybar. Took the opportunity to clean and re-lube the dampers and clean and re-oil the bearings.
