  • Lipo Connectors

Hi, just wondering what connections people recommend for 6s lipos, 4000-5000. Currently i have been using deans connectors on my 450l and xt60's for the plank, should i carry on with these or is there a better option out there. Just asking before i order some packs for the new 550x. Oh and i would also like to be able to buy a charge board with the right connections on for parallel charging.

    Thanks
    Jay

    I use EC5 on my 6s.

    Def not Deans!
    Happy Landings.

      Hey

I use xt60's on my 6s 450L, and EC5's on each of the 6s packs on my 12s 600L. I bought some supra x connectors yesterday for use on my new 12s heli. See what they are like. I am getting tired of the ec5's being so difficult to part.

SupraX, EC5 or you could also use 4.5mm bullets or XT90's

Don't use deans. They can't handle high current.

Some have had issues with EC5's de-soldering. Keep an eye on the spring clips on the male side they can get a bit loose, as soon as they do swap them

I would have thought this also Mike, but Alan Szabo always seems to use deans on his helis.

Not that I'd reccomend useing them, horrible connectors.

I think they're rated at 60A continuous with 75A bursts, so not much room for manoeuvre. Can you imagine soldering 10 or 8AWG to Deans, can't imagine you're getting much contact/surface area

I use XT-90Ss on my X5, really like them but I only fly sports. They have a built in spark arrester and neat covers for the back

Do they suffer from the pins collapsing after a bit of use like the 60's, look to be a nice connector

I've been using XT-90 connectors on my Kasama and Trex 600 helis for up to three years and they still work well, so no, there doesnt appear to be any problem with the pins. Mine are just the standard ones, not the anti-spark version.

I've found the AS150 connector to be one of the best for my speed hell's checking the logs i've an average of 240A with peaks of up to 398A I'm running 15S
You can get them from hobby king if you don't mind waiting for them and cheap from there also.
                              IMHO well worth a look.
