  • OS50 problem

I had a crash with my evo about three weeks ago and after rebuilding it I get the occasional small engine surge, it only lasts for about 1/2 a second and isnt much but it is noticable, perhaps an extra 50rpm on the disk, and there is noticably more smoke during the surge.

Its running on a zimmerman pipe and the throttle servo is a 3050 and has a revlock.

The crash was rather mild (PCM lockout) it litterally laid there on its side for about 10 seconds before I could get to it and shut the motor down, in which time it had taken the teeth off the main gear and was running without load.

I have stripped the motor and cant see anything wrong with it, everything seems fine but once or twice in a flight it gets one of these short surges, usually close together.

The way it went in it wouldnt have damaged the pipe, or the throttle servo, basically there was next to no damage.

It isnt stopping me flying, its just annoying to not know where its coming from.

Have you tried running it without the revlock? When you stripped the engine, did you also strip the carb. Surging generally occurs when the main needle is set just below optimum and you get the engine leaning due to irregular fuel flow. Occaisionly this can be caused by dirt in the carb.
