Well, pre-orders mine from FL , and will initially go with the pyro 800-48 I have spare with the larger main gear (already have an auto unit from when I had my Xxtremes).
The plan is to maybe replace it with a 750-56XL when they release that with a 6mm shaft.
Really looking forward to this heli

Exactly what I'm going to do but as I already have a 750-56L Comp I will send it back to Kontronik when the shaft is available.

Are you sure about the shaft length. Even the Pyro long shafts only go to 40mm free shaft length.

Just ordered Esc, FBL, Ultraguard, 3 X MKS HBL665 and 1 X HBL669. I will wait to get the heli before getting a motor cause I've no idea about shaft length or mounting holes. I believe main gear is 136T and you get a 13T pinion with it? Would have preferred to have ordered the motor tonight but will have to wait until I can at least get hold of a manual.

I do hope my 6S 5200mah bats fit. Should do looking at battery bay specs. My Compass 7HV comes in at 5.305 Kg flying weight. Will be interested to see what the Logo comes in at. Cant wait.

They just added to the list the Scorpion motor with 6mm shaft installed.

Yeah and look at the price. That equates to £316. The same motor with standard shaft is £235.

I hope they are not tying you to a specific motor at an inflated price if you want lower bearing support. How long is the pinion on this thing?

                Mate,

At Mikado page the 4525 motor with 8mm shaft is the same price as the one with 6mm shaft.
Where did you see it cheaper?

Good value will be if they offer a motor combo, then the motor comes cheaper.

I think they should modify the pinion so it installs into the CB then no need for such a long and specific shaft. JR have a very nice setup for their pinion. Lots of ways around it. I can't see with a herringbone pinion a huge need for the CB anyway.

I just looked at the pictures. They have mounted the motor high so there is quite a gap between the pinion and the motor mounting plate. I think a CB would be advisable in this case.

It's always best to run it as per spec but I can tell you having had an 800 XX that I had zero issues without running the CB. Not endorsing it but just saying :-)

Under high load the main gear will exert significant lateral force on the pinion. A counterbearing takes a lot of stress off the motor bearings helping them to last longer. Depends how hard you fly though

The other problem I see is if you want to run 1700 rpm at 70% throttle. The only way I can see of doing this is buying a 4525 motor kit from the states and then winding it yourself to 470kv and then put a 55 mm shaft in.

They could have improved that situation by having the tail pulley underneath the main gear so that the motor could sit right down there and the pinion would be very close to the top motor bearing, but they chose instead to have the pinion unusually far from the motor. I always kinda feel like it's 'cheating' a bit in the design department to require a special motor or special motor shaft etc. but, it's all a subjective thing.
