  • Okay, starting to think about what to save for....

So I have a few new questions,

As you know, I've not had the best luck with my DX6i, so rather than pratt around trying to get it repaired (yet again) I'm going to save for something else, but first if I may a little help is needed from the guys I respect:

1/ Are the servos that come with the DX7 any good? Or am I better saving the 30 quid and just buying the TX/RX combi.

2/ Fast-Lad are offering the Honey Bee King 2 really cheap right now? Worth 100 quid or better waiting, which leads kind of on to

3/ I want a ready to fly, I don't have patience to build a machine or the skill at the mo', that I'll learn when I bury the damn thing into the ground, so there are many choices, I'm guessing the Blade400, Belt CP or HBK2 are the main choices. As an alternative and because of it's stability I also wondered about the new Carson outdoor Coax, it's similar in size I believe to the smaller FP/CP helis, and is supposed to handle a decent breeze.

So I guess I'm looking for the kind of advice that got me into this hobby in the first place. It's likely to be June before I get settled, apart from the HBK2 which as it is I can just about afford, but would leave me no cash for spares or a decent Tranny till later anyhow.

    Just a quick note.

I believe you are in your rights to demand a new DX6i not a repair as the original was clearly not fit for purpose.

My DX6i has been faultless so far and I use it for a Raptor 50 as well as a 450 Trex.

I would speak to Horizon or whoever you bought it from as there appears to be a manufacturing fault with that one.

    Cheers

Don't be afraid of building a heli from a kit. It seems daunting initially but isn't difficult and is massively rewarding to see it take shape in front of you. Building it also gives you some opportunity to get to know how the model goes together which makes doing repair jobs so much easier. Even a big kit isn't a difficult job at all so don't limit yourself to rtf for the sake of a few hours work on the dining room table. Happy shopping!

1/ servos that come with the dx7 are crap basically so your better off using the money to go towards something else.
2/ I would rather save the money for something like a TRex 450se2/mini titan or maybe go for a blade 400 which will give you everything you need and will be pre-assembled.
3/ Defo blade 400 over any of the others you have mentioned.

Downside of that is, they did replace it.... Hence I just don't have any confidence in that model anymore. I've e-mailed Fast-Lad to see what they might do me a DX7 + B400 combi for..... If it's too much I'll just go for a DX7 when the time comes and wait till I'm ready for a 450 class.

edit: Okay, unfortunately they can't do that for me And looking at another post here on the forum I'm doubting the point of a DX7 anyway. Defo time to step back a bit and play the waiting game. See if anyone else comes onto the market with a decent TX on 2.4 DSM maybe.

              Absolutely spot on Mark!

Andy save a little longer and buy a cheap artf trex, honestly there not difficult to put together and an 80% finished jobbie would take and hour or two to finish.

But this is more positive news from your quarter, good man, also keep your eye out on the second hand market, your be surprised what'll turn up here over the next few months.

As for that fcuking DX6i demand a new one, you've played ball long enough, if trading standards were to step in there'd tell the supplier the same thing.

              Stick with it pal.

If you still go for the HBK2 I know everyone here will offer you all the help needed, either way your have a blast mate.
