  • Who has a Velos 880

I think I need to have one of these! If you have one, could you answer a few questions.

    Is it any good?

Where did you get it? - seems there are no UK stockists.

What setup did you go with?

    Thanks in advance.

I think I would get one if I lived somewhere close to a club with charging facilities. Needing four packs per flight is pretty daunting! It would be interesting to see how inexpensively one could be built using Align motors, Castle or Hobbywing ESCs etc.

They must look and sound awesome.

Hmmm, there are lots of planks and scale helis over 7kg, I think the threshold where it's no longer a model is much higher (unless they have some special distinction for helicopters). I know it would not be allowed at Epsom Downs.

But in terms of cost, the kit is only a bit more than some of the other high-end kits out now.

Ive also seen that people list their setup as running 2x 5000mah batteries - I wonder if thats per motor or are they running 2 6s setups?

I'd be interested to see what kind of flight times they're getting as well. If it's 9.5 kg thats basically like two average weight 700s, so I'd be inclined to use 4 X 4000mah packs but I have no idea what happens to the efficiency when you essentially combine the weight and power of two helis into one.

              I'd assume that's 2 x 12S 5000mAh

These things are beasts. I see people are using dual Kosmik setups too. £1k in ESCs alone!

I don't get why people are using kosmics - the manufacturer reckons 2x 120a esc is all thats needed!

I thought you could get 120A Kosmiks? Or are they just 160A and 200A?
