  • Spartan Vortex, Jeti and SBUS

I think the Jeti DS14 is on my shopping list this summer!

Angelos has definitely upped the game with the Jeti integration as now we have a system like the V control. I like the idea of doing the setup and adjustments from the transmitter. Very cool.

Does Jeti support SBUS or a version of it?

Also is the basic DS14 sufficient for a heli flyer? IE do I need any expansion packs?

I am on same wavelength as you,i like the integration aspect a lot coming from V control, but I like this idea even more as you also can use other setup means as well, the Tx is much much more user friendly, can be used with other models with ease and FBL systems and has throttle curves etc etc etc.

From what I have seen, the DS14 is good to go and is a very open system for customisation,i also prefer the location and size of the screen.

    Will follow with interest.

I am also keen to try the Spirit integration as well as the Vortex option.

Chris, you think a DS16 or DS14 is more user friendly than a Vbar Control?

In certain aspects i do yes, that aside the V Control is very slick but is of course locked to V Bar and planes only using V Plane which is limited also.

In keeping very much with the thread though i also look forward to experiences with the DS14 or similar as its top of my interest list currently

I welcome innovation and new features from whatever company,im biased toward none of them.

Jeti DS is a very good TX for sure but I was purely commenting on what you had said Chris so it is relative to the thread imo and I agree that we should all welcome innovation and new products, however it won't matter what anyone comes up with on the Jeti it won't be as user friendly as the nearest competition although as you say it won't be locked into to anything if that is an issue.

Agreed,V Cont is one of the best things i bought, but i do find myself drawn to trying other FBL systems and really like several of them.

My Dilemma was to revert back to Spektrum and lose the integration or go with Jeti and retain it but still have the flexibility for other systems inc Vortex of course as would like to try V4.

Have never really got why people want to try loads of different FBL systems, stick with what you know works well I say!

Well if it's a choice of Spektrum or Jeti it's a no brainer decision but I will be interested to see if you regret moving from V Control.

Have to say, for my money, the datapod is so easy and small I don't see the huge advantage of a TX interface for setup of a Vortex FBL unit. It takes 2 seconds to walk over to the heli, plug the datapod in, make whatever change and walk away again. They're so cheap that I've seen some people that just have a few permanently mounted to the helis.

I'd then be more swayed with the actual TX features and the feel of it in my hands (and cost of course!)

I take it that this Integration allows you to do a setup from scratch without the need for a pod or pc, right?

Well than that's a good thing, if one chooses to go with Jeti than you can throw all the pods away as they are no longer required nice and simple

Just looked into the usual suspects and can't see much information on setups with these... couldn't find manuals or video tutorials either, I take it that its so simple that users don't really need any further information

I like to see what different FBL systems feel like as they evolve,i have always enjoyed doing this although fundamentally I have stuck with V bar throughout I have to say I really like the way the Vortex flies I also really like the Beast X feel and adored the cyclic feel on the 3GX.I also was keen to try Spirit and Neuron.

V control will be staying for my V bars of course so will be running two Tx's.

I bought a DS-14 from ERCMarket in their Black Friday sale last year (thanks Alex!) to use with the Spirit FBL system and the integration/configurability is a really sweet feature along with the telemetry.

I don't know about Vortex but the Spirit FBL uses Jeti's Ex-Bus for setup. This is a multichannel link so I have a single servo cable from the spirit to the RX.

As supplied the DS-14 comes with a €50 voucher for software upgrades. I bought:
Flight Modes - it is supplied with 3 which you could fly with but I wanted to setup 5 - Throttle hold, Rescue, IU2, IU1 & Normal
Voice output - should be standard
Telemetry analysis via graphs - should be std I think since they promote telemetry in all their blurb
Logicswitches - not used yet but recommended for advanced programming on Helifreak &
Accelerometer - this allows you to trigger stuff by tilting the radio i.e. mine is set to tell me the battery voltage when I tilt the radio
After using the voucher this cost me €62 (approx. £50). I could I fly my helis without them but they all make the experience better.

                            Hope this helps.
