  • That was unexpected!!

Just crashed my twister 3D Storm, completely my fault. Didn't hit too hard but the blades went in. One immediately flew off and when i got to the model i noticed that the blade still attached was pretty much snapped in half and the flybar was slightly bent. I then looked at the other blade and it was completely fine, however, it was still attached to the blade grip. The spindle had sheared very neatly at the join of the blade grip to the rotorhead. And most incredible of all apart from the spindle and flybar there is no further damage.

Bent spindle yes but sheared with no damage to the blade! This happened to anyone else?

Crashes are strange sometimes! Glad not much damage was done, unlucky about the crash though!

    Triple check everything!

Yep definately going to go over everything and will check that the main shaft isn't bent but initial observations show no other damage. Does anyone think that i can buy a stronger spindle?

Well i have one more from my last purchase but sounds like i will get those next time as i agree that they are a pain to fit. Next question is the blades, what do you all recommend i should get to replace them?

Depends how much you want to spend mate. The Twister carbons are good but cost 25 quid a set and dont take knocks too well. (Boggy will back this up). I got a set of Helitec 325mm blades which are yellow and red to match the heli. They look great and fly good. You could also get the Blade 3D woodies for about a tenner. Depends on your flying and your pocket mate!!!

(cough, get the helitec ones! cough, cough!!!)

would tend to agree pete the twister blades at £25 are not good value they do not crash well at all.i am back on the woodies just cos they are cheap and actually do withstand knocks quite well. and at the stage where im trying new things and having the occasional "moment" they suit me. but as you say helitec ones are great value and if you can keep them off the deck look great!

pete - how much are the helitec ones and where do you get them from?
ron - did you mean the blade 400 woodies or some others?
Think i might get a bunch of woodies as i'm using it as my practice heli and at this rate i expect i will crash a few more times. Practice on this first to get the stick inputs worked out and then move onto the 600 to iron it out.

Well, they're not cheep mate! Think they are about £23. Any shop that lists J.perkins products can get them for you. They are also listed on the j.perkins website in the Twister upgrades section. I got mine from Mr.Models in Ferndown, Dorset.

TBH I only got them cos they look great! Match the heli exactly. I also use my Twister for practice. Makes the 600 seem so stable in comparison.

definately agree with that. it is a twitchy little thing, which is why once i'm close to doing something then i move onto the 600 and find it easier to perfect on that.
