  • 50 / 600 size FBL heads - RJX, Outrage Fusion / Velocity interchangeable parts?

    Hey folks,

long story short, after acquiring a second hand RJX FBL head and then getting a few spare feathering spindles for it, It's now failed during install and I've lost all confidence in using it even if I did repair it. The Jesus bolt head sheared off whilst tightening it and I had to drill it out, and the screw thread claiming the washout to the shaft stripped as well. I was NOT doing either up too tight - it's like they were both made of cheese. Not happy, especially as getting spares is near on impossible now anyway. I probably should have replaced the bolts before installing it but it was only a trial fit to set up the beastX etc anyway. You live and learn...

Anyway, I wanted to know if any other heads use the same feathering spindles, then at least the 4 of those I have can be used on the replacement head? Or I may try and sell the usable bits from what I have and start over, but don't know if there are folks out there looking for these anymore.

Also Is there a difference between the Outrage Fusion / Velocity and Velicity N2 heads? I may go this route as a replacement.
    cheers

The only RJX head I have is on a Trex500 but my guess is that the feathering shaft on that .50 head is something pretty standard. At the end of the day there's only two dimensions differentiating them. It's gonna be either 6mm or 8mm and a certain length.

As far as I know the Outrage Fusion 50 and velocity had the same head, not sure about the N2. I have a Fusion flybarred head that I converted for a potential project so I have fiddled with them a bit.

All the outrage heads will fit that main shaft , they all have the 3 different hole fitments for height adjustment .

Yeah thanks - I know the heads will all fit the 600n. Just trying to work out the difference between them all and if any one of them is better than the other.
If they use the same feathering spindle as the RJX it'd be a bonus - I'm sure it's an 8mm shaft.

Why not just put the fl or dfc align head on parts are everywhere.

I may do that, but it works out at double the cost, hence looking at this option first.

If I went for the 550 DFC head, would it still be ok with the original green/blue swashplate? I know the RJX/Outrage would work ok with it but not sure on the DFC align head.
              thanks

I've seen others using the Blade 550X/600X heads on Trex helis (to get a traditional head rather than DFC) and other machines ...

I've got a Blade 550/600X head on my Trex 600Pro. It fits and works fine and has better geometry for most FBL controllers than the trex head. The only slight hassle is that you need to trim down and drill the main shaft to get the correct length:

                      this is the heli:
