Black Friday
Most of the major retail stores are putting on some sort of sale this Friday...some have even started. Any news of the modelling stores joining in from those in the trade???

Isn't Black Friday an American thing? and wasn't it ASDA (Wallmart) that brought it over to the UK (Notice correct use of 'Brought'
.) and have now pulled out of black friday sales because of the huge problems it caused over the last two years they have run it????
I doubt the retailers will do anything, most have just has sales anyway but as a guess they will have sales ready and waiting to watch what each other do! first one to do it and the rest will jump on the boat and do the same.
Same answer for the impending question of Christmas/Boxing Day Sales........

If anyone wants a cheap telly then Currys up our way are opening at 6.00am this Friday, only one 6 o'clock in a day for me though these days and that's pm. Always thought Black Friday alluded to when Friday fell on the 13th day of the month.Too many helis and planks, well that's what she says.Comment

It's nothing to do with Americanism but everything to do with increasing sales. If the internet didn't exist and people were unable to order online from America then I'd bet none of the UK shops would bother with Black Friday sales.
If past years are anything to go by, most UK hobby stores (like Align T-Rex, Midlands and FastLads) didn't have Black Friday sales, but had a sale after COB on 24th December. I got myself some great bargains over the last few years.Comment

agree Nic - Black Friday is after Turkey Day (Thanskgiving) so majority of people taking a bridge day to get a 4 day weekend - with the potential of people not being at work this means there is a potential for more shoppers - thats how Black Friday was born ...Originally posted by mahbouni View Post
