  • Align 600mx V 730mx

I'm considering these two motor options for a 550 DFC V3 airframe.
The Align supplied motor would be a 600mx but I'm also looking at the 730mx from the later 550L with the view to possibly running 550mm blades as opposed to the 520mm for the 600mx.

Anyone have experience with these pair if so what are the performance pros and cons in going for a 730mx over the 600mx?

The 730MX is much lower Kv (850Kv vs 1220Kv) so your headspeed would be way too low unless you also used the higher gearing from the 730MX version of the 550 Pro / 550L.

Sorry should have made it clear that either motor would be fitted with the appropriate pinion, 16T for 730 and 11T for 600. The main gear is common 112T for both 550DFC and 550L

        Side frames?

The 730MX definitely has more power and will handle the load of the 550mm blades better under hard 3D,
downside is it will be harder on your batteries in the 6s setup.

Also the side frames are different for the 730MX so if you have the original side frames you will have to replace them also, (or get creative with the Dremel!)

        std dfc side frames

        Later frames for the 730MX

        Hope me this helps?
