You can get a more secure joint on the Supras so anyone that can solder should get a secure connector with them but I don't know Bruno you tell me why EC5's fail? When they've allegedly de soldered were the wires too hot to touch? They should be if solder has melted surely?

Yes you do have to pay attention to what your doing , and you can short them which is the only downside. Plugging the first battery into the ESC when loading is the way to use these on either 10s / 12s or 14s setup etc

Basically they halved their production costs by making only 1 connector and not separate male/female ones. Good idea about plugging connecting the first battery while loading. It's a pity chargers can't do 12s & 14s packs with only a single connector. I guess you'd need a 60V PSU.

In my case I think they were the weak link on my power setup. As mentioned, had them fail on a Mikado pre soldered EC5, they are rated 120a continuos but i doubt it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head again. The point is the connectors are rated way below what you're expecting them to allow, the result is resistance and with that you get heat. A couple of hundred degrees is mental and you must notice this when disconnecting the connectors though, or when they desolder in mid air

they might - but didnt Mr Dahl say not so long ago that Kyle still uses deans and that without any issues?! and afaik deans arent rated as EC5s are .. same applies I believe to Jamie Robertson at least majority of his pictures of his 700 logo (paat) as well as Trex have deans on them ...
