Ripmax are the importers and distributors of Futaba so they have to show the RRP price by the time it gets to the retailers it will be cheaper.

Ripmax RRP for the 14SG is £550 but places like Kings Lynn Model Shop, for instance, have it on for £425.

Just checked Aerobertics.be - Product Detail Transmitters / Receivers - Futaba and they have it up for €1049.00 or about £770. Do they offer a members discount system or something that you can sign up for?

Yup, £999 is a lot. RCJapan have quoted £660 inc VAT, postage and handling fees. That is for the CE stamped version also.

Is that £660 to your door or is it subject to import duty etc?

Personally I'd like to have the option to buy without the included Rx and reducing the price accordingly. Places like Inwood Models will take the Rx out of a set and reduce the price but only buy £55 for the R7008SB from the 14SG set. So it would be nice if Futaba could offer a Tx only option for about £75 less.

I think the exchange rate may have slipped a bit since that £660 price, but even so, should be possible to get it from RC Japan for under £700.

Personally I'd wait for an Inwood price, they are usually hard to beat on Futaba especially if you want TX only.

For me at least, I'm struggling to see the compelling reasons to upgrade from a 14SG that justify the price ...

I'm sure they'd do it if you asked. I worked it out a while back, so it may have changed. It's actually nearer £700 I think:

              Price ex VAT: £551
              Post: ~£20
              Total inc VAT: £685
              Parcel Force handling etc: ~£15

Yeah me too, but I could be tempted to upgrade to it from my 8FG. Having said that, I haven't done much flying at all recently, so what's the point...

I bought my 14SG from Inwood so I'll probably wait until they have them in before I decide.

The one thing that my DX9 has that I miss on the 14SG is the speaker for voice alerts. Having to use an earpiece if I want to use the voice function on the 14SG is a pain. A lot of money for a small change but selling on the 14 will help reduce it a bit. (Beginning to sound like I'm trying to talk myself into this! )
