  • rotor head stop plate

Hi - just curious as to what the stop plate on top of the rotor head does? only thing is can see is to stop dirt etc getting in?

reason being for the question is the stop plate on one of my heli's seems to have a stripped screw, so i would therefore need to replace the rotor head , or can i get away with not having it there?

    cheers

if you put your palm on it lift your fingers you can slow and stop rotor, on some model if you remove you won't bent blade grip arm in a accident if they don't clear

That's an interesting question. I've seen people use it to slow the rotor down by hand but when I tried it, it unscrewed and came loose. So I thought maybe that's not what it is there for otherwise it would have a left hand thread. May be it's to keep the rain off like a little umbrella or something.

DOH! of course lol, i do it every time i fly, obvious answer Thanks ! i'll see if i can maybe get a slightly larger screw in there without compromising the rotor head.
