tail servo smoked

Hi guys, really could do with some help. I had just completed my vbar neo set up with vbar control. I was try to set up my way points. Then while bench testing it the tail servo smoked up. The servo I was using is a align 855h I had the vbar control set to 1520 333Hz which I double checked online. I am running a talon 90 at 8v but it seemed as if it was over revving some how?

I really don't understand what happens? Gutted now. I feel really put off this whole vbar thing.


Setting up an esc is really not clear in any shape or form


Can anyone help me at all?

There are videos on mikados website for setting the esc up its dead easy if you follow the simple esc wizard in the transmitter.
As for the tail servo the only reason for it to burn out would be if it was binding an of course they are that quiet you wouldn't hear it, ideally you leave the horn off until tail menu when it centres automatically.

There was no binding in the tail at all. Only when the head was spinning did smoke come out of it. The esc is a castle there are no instructions in the transmitter. I set the talon up with the castle link.

Head speed 1 : 2000
Head speed 2 : 2150
Head speed 3 : 2300

Throttle output on the vbar control was 30 bank 1 / 70 bank 2 / 100 bank 3

This is becoming a nightmare Jim.

Wow I honestly thought I did something wrong. I have setup a vbar tail a million times. Should I send this back to align?

Castle esc is fine with those settings , just choose other esc in vcontrol wizard choose external gov an set the endpoints , job done.

Jim I can work out how to set the low stick position / end point how do you set the high point? The motor keeps going no matter what the value is?

You cannot have the 30 value in the first bank to set endpoints , leave it as normal 0-100 for this , you must set the top stick first then reduce to low.

Just spoken to Keith at align 360 as that was where I got it from. Will have to post it out to him tomorrow. Really gutted.

Well massive Thanks to Jim, and sorry for the call out the blue.lol. finally got the end points sorted. I really think Mikado need to address this issue when it comes to an easier solution for setting up other escs.

As for the servo guys, going to ship it back to align in the morning to see what they say. I really hope I don't have to buy another one. Its not cheap :-(

Yeah may be your right but it didn't smell normally they smell bad if smoked

i burned out a Futaba couple of years ago was my own fault but I smelt in in the house for a week
thats how bad the smell was

does yours smell?
