  • Ares Optim 80cp RTF heli

    Hi Guys,

With taking the move over to vBar control shortly. I am now thinking it will be uneconomical for me to keep my futaba radio system (sad times I know).

So everything I have will need to shift over to vbar. Which leaves me with one problem.

I will not have any small helicopter to fly. Seen the above mentioned heli at helifeast some weeks ago, and just wondering if anybody had any experience or reviews on it?

Seems like a mcpx in disguise?

I will have to now get rid of my futaba 14 sg radio, helicommand and my trex 150.

Hope this tx is as goods as you all say it is.lol

By the look of it I would say that it is based on the hcp80 v2 by Hisky. And the TX is based on the hisky H-6. You can read about the two here. There is a version 1 and 2 but only the v2 has a "6-axis gyro" (gyro+accelerometer) so I presume the Ares is based on the v2.

Can't really comment on the Ares but in terms of the hisky helis I would say that the hcp80 is small and perhaps more comparable to the nano cpx rather than the mcpx. The big brother of the hcp80 is the hcp100s which has a similar platform as that of the mcpx bl. Although I would recommend the hcp80 as a first cp heli given its durability and low running cost I wonder if it would be appropriate for someone with your level of experience. There are other micros out there that would outperform the hcp. But nothing wrong with it, it just a matter of managing expectations. You will find plenty of info on hisky helis in rcg.

Just after something to fly around the house or back garden. Only after a bit of fun. The trex 150 I have needs a little more space then I have.

Lol. I get bored with quads.lol. was speaking to Trevor at Midlands while picking up my vbar control. He said it's a good bit of fun and can take a beating. Going to get one as soon as the trex 150 has sold. I'll report back :-)

That is definitely their strength, you can fly them any time anywhere indoors. The motor is brushed and as such there is not much damage it can do. But they move fast and it can be challenging to fly them smoothly in a confined space.

When you fly indoors you may want to give the motor a good cool-down between flights. I find that the motor on my hcp80 gets really hot indoors and normally wait 10-15 min between flights. Let us know how it goes.
