Its not quite the same, there are two real tangible benefits between - dare I say Spekky and Futaba (other radios do apply here). As a club radio, Spectrum has model match, which for newbies and advanced flyer alike can prevent instant carnage.

That said if you fly outside of a club in various locations then Futaba have better solutions for maintaining radio signal strength. This benefit is only really applicable outside of clubs as this is where you will find the noisiest and most changeable "radio" environments.

I get your point, but someone who tries to fly a 700N when his transmitter is set to 'Tiger Moth' is as bad as a guitarist starting the opening riffs of 'Hey Joe' when the rest of the band is playing 'Killing Floor'. It shouldn't happen.

However, your point about Futaba having better solutions for maintaining radio signal strength is very valid, because that resolves a problem which is outside of the influence of the operator.
