for 450.00 all in i dont think you will get much of a heli, especially not a FUEL one ....a t-rex without transmitter will cost around that amount, (and that is electric) you could always get a twister cp but it comes without a brushless motor, you can get a new one for around 22o with radio and charger,or a hummingbird pro for about the same money,or there are others like the twister picolo and hummingbird which are around the 180.00 mark with radio and charger , i wont reccomend secondhand for a beginner or you will be likely to get ripped off or be flying an unsafe model

i would suggest you buy a simulator and transmitter b4 you try and fly as it will save you a lot of time and especially money due to lack of breakages.

ccpm is cylic, collective, pitch mixing. this is usually a direct connection between the servo and the swash plate...ie no rods..

      CCPM

Thats not stirctly true, it is to do with the lay out of the servos, and the degree of seperation (3 servo 120 degree or 4 servo 90 degree), the control inputs are mixed by the transmitter to create the correct swash movement, alot more prescise, but alot more complicated to try and work out than manual mixing.

As for which heli to buy with your budget, the only way you will get a complete set up (nitro or electric) is second hand, which you need to do with great care. Find yourself a club/ group who fly helis, get some advice off of an expert (there are a few about here!), find out what others fly in the club, which gear they are using etc. This Hobby is not something you can't rush into, it takes time, paitence and practice or else it gets expensive but more importantly dangerouse as a nitro can cause alot a damage to say a car/ shed or serious injury/ death to a person. If you are going to do it, do it properly. Good nitro heli's to start with are Shuttles or Raptor 30's or similar, but if you do buy second hand get it checked out and set up by somebody who knows what they are doing.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

      And a DX8 too

just to clarify ccpm, almost all model helis use ccpm, the difference is wether it uses mechanical or electronic mixing of collective and cyclic.
when people mention ccpm they are usualy refering to electronic (eccpm)
as opposed to mechanical (mccpm) mixing

You don't say where're you are based, but to agree with Jamez, go to the nearest club and speak to pilots. It's generally a good idea to see what they are flying. Also if you want an i.c. model, some shops will do beginner's deals, eg Raptor 30 all up with 6ch hitec tx is about 470 from Skyline models.

Sorry Bender but I can't agree with this. If you buy the new Airskipper, you have a choice of setting it up MPM or CCPM. Most models come as MPM and the CCPM is usually bought as an upgrade. But I could be wrong.

              Hi mack,
both systems mix collective and cyclic but one is mixed mechanicly the other electronicaly in your tx, that the difference both systems are ccpm.
jr is just muddying the waters if they call it mpm and ccpm
for example a raptor is mccpm as standard

              sorry to sidetrack the thread
