You want something like this as other have said:

Pro-Iroda Solderpro 120 Gas Soldering Iron Kit | Maplin

You can use it as an iron, a hot air gun for heatshrink and a mini blow torch for doing heavy duty connectors like EC5s. I have its slightly smaller and older cousin which has served me well for the last 4 years.

+1 on the iroda, not sure if mines the 120 off the top of my head but has the same features so stands a chance...
Nice little package though, looks great, works even better!!

+1 on the gas soldering iron, obviously more expensive than a standard electric iron but you can do everything either it, low & high wattage soldering, blow torch for large connectors and also heatshrink. It being 'wireless' is really nice too.

I've also used it for other DIY projects and even lit the fire when i run out of matches lol

Best tip for making soldering easy and hassle free is to get yourself some 60/40 tin/lead solder, and don't use 'lead-free' ROHS stuff.
Tin/lead solder melts at a lower temperature, flows better and produces a nice shiny joint.
Lead free is just horrible to use.
                IMO.

                    thanks for info very useful,

gas seems to be popular, makes sense being so portable, are these kits a one time purchase other than the gas and solder, ie: the tips if kept well do they last,

The tips will last many many hours if you don't run the iron too hot and don't scrape the iron coating off and don't leave it on unnecessarily.
The high Tin content of Lead-free solder erodes the Iron plating faster than Tin/Lead solder does, as well as requiring higher temperatures.
