Been a member of Runryder, Helifreak and RCHA for years. Never had a problem however over on the Freak I find myself suspended or banned not sure which. Having tried to make contact with them over a few months and not even the courtesy of a reply.

Unbenown to me George emailed the freaks and he got a reply stating I was banned for saying I was going to sell my gasser conversion. Ok fair enough but why not simply let me know your thoughts and allow me the chance to correct it and learn.

There philosophy seems to be totally different, never explain and bam your done. Seems a shame though this has happened as I'm Helis through and through and help out when I can. No massive loss nicer bunch of guys on here and at least you can get hold of the boss.

I was thinking the same. The only conclusion i could come to was that he mentioned he was going to sell it in a post in the main forum or something like that?! Rather than in the for sale section?!

But surely just give you a nudge and point out that they would prefer you not to talk about sales of any kind in the main forum?! Instead of just banning you out right?!

With the site down right now I can't check the details, but as I recall, they have a firm policy on vendors having to post as a vendor not a regular member and setting up a vendor account may or may not involve contributing to the site costs/advertising etc.

Selling your 2nd hand stuff in the right forum isn't a problem, producing something specifically for sale would be a problem.

So a member who 'advertises' a product for sale without first contacting them to do what is necessary to become a vendor is going to get banned. It happens a lot with smaller businesses who just hop on there and plug a product.

Not what maj intended to do of course, but with HF the moment you decide you are going to be selling something, you need to make sure you comply with the rules on commercial sales.

No idea why they wouldn't follow through and explain though as they stand to gain in the long run...

Surely that's a mistake on someone's part over there. There's a big difference between someone that comes onto a forum just to try to sell something and those that regularly contribute and add value.

This is a great forum, in many ways the best, but unfortunately there is not nearly as much activity in the area of gassers and also certain niche brands like minicopter, Henseleit and Kasama, so I find myself over at HF quite a bit these days.

I agree and it was a personal project that members asked about getting one and it morphed in to a development thread and intent to get a saleable version. I admit on reflection my user needed updating but it was a very fine line and a pm from them could easily have sorted it out if they wished. Not communicating is my big bug bear regardless of the outcome.

Having had this happen and googling the issue seems a common practice for them to suspend, ban and ignore.

If anyone had read that thread it started off literally like the E700 Gasser Conversion thread that's been running on here recently. It's just about two guys who decided to build a conversion for themselves and put up a few pics of it on the forums.
The posts on Helifreak in question really only came about after there was so much interest in the conversion and Mj said not much more than they were going to produce some kits and they would be available, which sparked more interest and answers to people's questions from Mj and Rob. If anyone had read that thread you would have seen that the whole thing had grown organically into the lads designing properly and producing a first class conversion that people are going to be able to buy.
In reality all Will and HF had to do was message Mj and say he'd over stepped the rules and not to do it again and delete that thread but instead with no warning Mj has been banned with no hint of contact from HF to explain why so I took it upon myself to try and find out and was told that basically Mj had acted like a vendor and was advertising and trying to sell a product, can't remember the exact words now but that was the basic problem. I messaged Will again stating it was a shame to lose someone from the forum for something so minor that does so much for the hobby both here and abroad, Michael does a hell of a lot more for people in the hobby than is ever seen on the forums that's for sure, I've seen that a lot personally. Not had any reply from Will J to my last message though.

I wouldn't be expecting any replies from anyone in the management team from HF at the moment as they are still dealing with the server problems following the restructuring to harden their system against the DDoS attacks.

They have been heads down in that for about a week now.

Let them get the site back up and then ask again once the dust settles, I expect the situation can be sorted out then ...

I see they have a rude message now,,they must be sick of peeps contacting them regarding the site being down,,judging by the message they are a bit miffed.
It seems to be a great forum but if you can be banned without being told,,and with no explanation,then the site is not good at all..lots of good info but banning people for what amounts to a "small" rule break is a bit over the top IMHO
