With some help from the people on these forums and trex/x400 tuning a lot of head scratching I had my shiny new x400 tight and flying beautifully.
The tail was rock solid, control excellent in all directions and plenty of power when I needed it.
We (me, my partner and my daughter) drove around the picturesque peak district, came back into Sheffield and finally found a perfect spot.
X400 in the air and for the first time all the space I needed to throw it around a little. All was smooth until the wind decided to turn my poor little helicopter into an extra from the Wizard of Oz. At 50 feet in the air with serious wind I was as a starter heli pilot a little worried...
But I fought the elements having to almost cut the power to get the X400 out of the sky and onto terra firma ,with a nice whack of power just before landing to save the gear - aaaaaaaah - breath again.
So we drove off, with myself a little relieved to say the least that my 400+ investment was in one well formed piece!
On the way back we found the flattest, smoothest, wind free park in Sheffield (Millhouses for those in the know) and I put the X400 in the air, nice and low to avoid any sudden gusts - at which point the skids caught the ground, barrelled the heli over and ripped the rotor right off the hub, bending rods like putty and performing what resembled a magician's saw trick on the sawshplate.
Hey it was fun while it lasted.
Next fun filled and pocket sapping installment to come when Heliaddicts get my new bits over.
Back to the Hummer for now.
