another heli on its way

After a bit of pondering around which mid size machine to go for, I've finally made a decision about my next heli and decided upon a compass 6hv (original version). I have a crashed airframe heading my way later this week to start the ball rolling. Its a bit outdated (like myself) but when sorted should still prove to be decent heli if all I have read is anything to go by !
If any of you folks who are still flying one, would like to chip in with any advice, ideas, do's/dont's etc, then these thoughts will be well received.

My plan is budget build really, with maybe an sk3 helidrive motor. Possibly the standard hobbywing 70A hv /used castle 80hv esc and Align servos.
A spirit fbl is paid for and is on its way now !

Along with any advice, if anyone has a 12s electrical set up which would suit this heli, surplus to requirements then please give me a shout.
The standard motor is 540kv and esc is 70hv, so in this ball park.

If you have a 6hv canopy, even well damaged, I would interested, along with any spares, or perhaps another airframe or complete heli if your thinking of selling yours !!!

Congrats on your new heli. Who cares if it's dated aslong as you can get parts for it it's all good not to mention it's one of the lightest helis in it's class IIRC. I'd also consider a YEP ESC as another option, great value for money!

Maybe the last thread is too fresh in peoples minds. I think you should just make a decision…. unless you like the attention lol

Sounds like you have decided exactly what your going to do anyway. You don't need everyone giving you advice against the grain of what you have already decided.

Harv. I have a well used canopy for 6hv that I used as plant pot for the last 3 years. I'l "dig" it out for you
Also I have a used Jesus bolt that I chuck in for free dude...
Just pay for the the postage and I send them out.

that's more like it..... a bit of really helpful support. Thanks guys, it means a lot to me...... . The canopy sounds great. Try not to put the spade through it as you dig and it still may be usable, or to avoid the postage and pinch a few more pennies I could pop round and dig it myself. For an extra fiver I could mow your lawn while I'm at it. lol.
Adam, I am picking up the heli today so the decision is definitely made matey, and spirit is in the post also, but I still need motor and esc/bec...... looking for used 12s bits still on this one.... And its been so long since I set up a heli I probably do need my hand holding .Lol.

Yea the 6hv motor works well if it stays together!
On mine the can separated from the motor caused a crash by hitting the mains on it's way to wherever ( never found it ). Weston UK didn't want to know!
No more Compass for me I'm afraid

luckily for me, you seem to be the only person in the world who has had a bad 6hv experience.... and as its your old heli that's heading back to me, lets hope its the only bad experience with that heli.lol
