  • What happpened to 10s?

When the electrics started to take over there was a bit of a debate about 10s vs 12s and if I remember correctly there was a Logo that was said to fly better on 10 vs 12.

Is this debate still valid or has 12s just won?

Weight and efficiency I guess, but obviously it depends on the model. People are running 14s now instead of 12 due to longer flight times and less heat, but then there is also added weight...

I think 12S became the de facto norm, as many already had 6S from 500 size models etc. All they have to do is buy another and it's win win, as now you've got a 12S set and an extra 6S pack for the 500.

Depends on motor & Gearing choice I think???

Our Logo 600SE was on a 10s setup and it flew really well on that! it had a Kontronik Pyro 700-52 in it

I run 10s on my Logo 600sx and I find it a good balance of power to weight & flight duration, I don't fly too agresive so it suits me fine plus the packs are slightly cheaper.

My logo 600 3D (pre sx) used to run on 10S but it lacked punch and lots of people converted them over to 12S (like me)

Some people had issues with the main gear stripping on 12s and Mikado used to recommend a 10s set up and advised against 12s.

we are using 10S on our Logo600SE with a kontronik 700-45 running at 1850 on the head ,30c packs and the torque and power is awesome my son is managing to do most 3d manovures with this headspeed very precisely and our average current draw is around 68 amps,
we went for a 700-45 for the reason that we can got to 12S if we want with only a pinion change as i now have a Goblin 500 so we are hoping to make our packs interchangeable...........

A fella at my club uses a titan x50e on a 10s setup. He gets 9 min flight times!

Thanks for all the replies, still seems predominantly used on the logos, although one TT going strong as well. I guess the killer "app" is being able to use a single 6s batterie to fly a 550 whereas what use is a 5s on its own - starter for nitro maybe

12s is not heavier than 10s. If a helicopter uses a 10s 4500mAh pack you wouldn't use a 12s 4500mAh pack in the same helicopter. You would scale the capacity down in proportion to the voltage. For example, 4500mAh x 10 / 12 = 3750mAh. It maybe the case that you end up using a slightly heavier 3800mAh pack or a slightly lighter 37000mAh pack.

The logo 5003d was/is a 5s/6s heli. I fly my logo on both & it's plenty capable of everything but it's just more fun & wild on 6s. I use a 4020/1100 15t but with a pinion change it would be even better.
