Wondered if this idea would work with bigger helis,,I cant think of any reason why not,,,can you?

    To protect which gears?

I'd be concerned that it's just another potential failure point. A clutch designed to slip could very easily slip when you don't want it so slip. If might be a very fine line between being 'slippy' enough to protect all the gears yet being strong enough to pass all the available motor torque without stipping.

I cant recall the last time I stripped a gear, maybe you should avoid taking off or landing in long grass?

Its not just grass,,Ive touched down tail first a few times and stripped gears, last couple of years I`ve been putting it down very slightly nose down which solved it.I thought it might work on bigger helis but as you say it would be a nightmare getting it to slip consistently at the same torque load.
I suppose it would have been done by this time if it was feasible.

My 600 Pro used to be bad for catching the tail blades in grass. I fixed it by putting the slightly longer 700e landing gear on the back only which gave it a slight tail up stance, nothing you would really notice but enough to keep the tail out of the dirt.
