  • 2nd Hand Trex 500 whats it worth??

    Hi All.

Looking at rolling over the trusty Trex 500 EFL Pro and getting a G380. So whats the Trex likely to be worth?

    Specs are
Trex 500 EFL Pro 3 years old.
Vbar blueline full Pro with Gov
    DFC head.
Spare blades, boom, torque tube, Standard head, motor, bearings, umbrella gears, collection of other small parts.
JR DMSS RX (full not park flyer)
5 lipos 2600 mah 6s lipos. 2 just about dead but ok for learner hovering. 3 still ok.
    All else is standard.
Flys great and is in excellent condition.

So what should I be asking for it?

    Cheers

Hi,if heli is in good condition i would say around £300-£350,wouldnt it be a good idea to keep v-bar for 380 and sell 500 without?

I've just sold my 500 ESP for £250, BNF no batteries. It's a job to put a price on secound hand helies, I guess it's what someone is prepared to pay rather than whats it worth.

A new 500 Dominator combo seems to be around £510, plus you'd need batteries & receiver plus any spares of course. So what, say £650-700 all up with receiver and a few spare batteries? So on that basis £300-350 sounds reasonable for this if it's good to go and the newer Dominator model isn't a big step up.
I have no experience of the various upgrades etc, so be interested to hear thoughts. Debating between new v used myself at the moment.

Its great to have a new Helicopter but bear in mind you will need to build it from a kit which is a fair proposition for a beginner but it is a great learning experience to do this which helps you become familiar with heli in case of crash requiring rebuild. So buying a second hand heli can be hit and miss but most people passionate about hobby will have looked after helis well and you should get a good one on places like this site, bmfa etc.

Has to be worth £330! 500 don't seem to be selling very well at the moment but good luck. Are you selling it in China?

                      Hi all.
thanks for the replies. Sort of in the ball park I was looking for. With the full size Vbar and number of Spares I got told by the shop here around 3-400 GBP. Guess depends if someone wants the Vbar or not. If they dont I have the original 3gx which I had many problems with and also a Kbar. I had a 250 that was never any good. putting the Kbar on made a massive improvement but still never liked the heli. I would be happy to put a Kbar on the 380 if I got more money for the Trex with Vbar.

The Trex was my first collective pitch heli. It taught me to fly and build. I loved the building part so getting the kit was half the fun. Looking at what second hand ones are going for they would make an excellent first heli for beginners. I debated between the 450 and 500 a lot before going the 500 for my first heli and was glad I did. Its more than double the flying weight of the 450 and just so much bigger and more stable. Once you get over the extra size intimidation I think it has taken me a lot further than a 450 would have.

Thanks again for the comments will let you know how I go.

                      Cheers

I've been considering selling my 500EFL as well, I don't really fly it at all and I bought a logo 550SX as something bigger but still smaller than the Ballistic I have. Thing is I flew the 500 again and now I'm not sure. There's something about them that's really cool. The size is just right but not too big to worry about crash costs. I do like the look of the G380 as well but it's not really a replacement for the Trex.

I have a 500 EFL Pro, two years old, done loads of flights and has never been crashed, in absolutely immaculate condition (slight heli OCD..!!)

I have just bought a new 380, the idea a while ago was to sell the 500 to pay for it, however the 500 flies so well, there is something about it that I just can't bring myself to 'do the deed'...... So instead I decided to give it a birthday treat and bought it some of the new black torque tube gears front and back, as the originals were getting a bit of slop in them, and have fitted a Brain, as I wanted to try the bailout feature. Have to say - it is now stunning, so not selling it just making more space on the heli rack for the 380....!!!

So much for my comment to the other half 'the 380 won't cost me anything....'!!!!!

Or of course what your willing to accept .
I can never see the logic of these threads. If some body offers too low you'll say no,If they get in the ball park the haggling starts! simples.Only the OP knows where the gate to the ball park is.

I think the logic of these threads is to get an idea where that ballpark might lie. I'm a potential future buyer and have no idea how much used helis actually sell for. I know how much a new one costs, but no idea on depreciation. Threads like this are helpful in this respect.
