That's absolutley the case but the bonus is that it's a superb flight controller as well!

Have only flown BeastX so far which has done everything i need, my 250 has a kbar on it which with the PC interface makes for a nice easy setup, not sure i'm good enough to notice a difference in controllers tbh but getting back in to flips and inverted/backwards flight so the bailout is where it's at for me at the moment, i've actually bought 2 with the view to getting another heli early next year so hopefully it lives up to the hype and they will stay with me for a while

I'm no 3d god but I can fly ok and I've flown quite a few FBL units, Beastx, Brain, GT5, ZYX-s, Vbar (and clones) 3GX. The Spirit feels most like the Vbar but with the added bonus of "falling off a log easy" tick toc ability! (and the bail out of course!) IMHO the Beastx has a very different feel to it, not better or worse, just different and I still really like the way the beastx flys.
Tomas (The Spirit dude) is very good on the support side of things and there are quite a few of us on here who've got Spirits so you shouldn't have much trouble getting help if you need any.
Be interested to know what you think of it when it arrives, perhaps you could post your thoughts?

Also read the manual carefully regarding the rescue and the piro compensation, you must get it right or it can affect the rescue

There will be plenty of time spent on setup I've also got the bluetooth module coming so adjustments can be made easily 'in the field', i've never had bailout on any heli so i'm in no rush to get that side of it setup, i'll get it flying right first then venture in to getting bailout setup

I have three helis with the Spirit on, changed them all from vbars. It normally goes out of stock really quick and I have ended up with a brand new spare, 2 options now sell the 4th or build another heli :-)
