  • Autorotations with a nitro vs electric

I'm hoping this isn't the dumbest question in the world but...

As a nitro is so much lighter than an electric does it make autos easier, as I would guess it would float more?

Or could it be the opposite as it needs weight to 'drive' the blades.

Purely out of interest as I cant afford another 700 just for autos lol

I'm not entirely sure, but I do find autos on my G4 much easier. It could, however, be a placebo effect as I trust the engine to kick back in smoothly more than I do the auto bailout function. It's also a lot easier (IMO) to set up than the ESC/FBL's auto bailout feature.

i've auto'd electric, nitro and gassers
if you can auto one you can auto them all

don't be a wimp and think about bail out on an auto, just go for it first time

Weight vs rotor disc, so the nitro, with a lower disc loading will autorotate better.

All your electric helis are BIGGER than your nitro! You've got the smallest nitro it's possible to have! LOL

Yeah I agree. I always crap myself when I hit that bailout switch. I worry that either it's going to soft start and hit the deck or it will just instantly come on and strip all the gears ha.

For that extra fun factor, try auto-ing a 450!

                            Like this!
I only have a 700 and one day, I just decided to auto from about 100ft up! I've not looked back since.. I still am learning to do it perfectly but so far... so good.
I don't even have auto bailout activated on my esc.

For me the biggest difference in autos is the tail drive setup. Torque tube tails auto much better than belt tails. Goblins in particular are quite tricky to auto. Its very easy to lose the headspeed where my trex 700 will float for ever. Best Heli I've had for autos was my Vibe 90 first gen. Could make a brew while that came down lol
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod
