  • expensive day

Went flying yesterday was having a good time general flying loops, rolls, bit of inverted and my first piro flips (pretty rough )

then i fly my dragonus, up in to a hover, flip, doesnt come out of it, tail lets go, ground, bits everywere, BUGGER,
thats another 450 written off, all radio gear ok so at least thats a bonus

then i fly the knight again all going ok bring it in to a hover to land and nasty clancking noise, get it down check it over nothing wrong, try again, engine is a bit rough but running so i thing crud in the carb and call it a day. Cleaned out the carb and still wouldnt run well so packed up and went home. have just stripped engine and the only salvagable part is the carb, the rest is mullered, considering there is a lump of piston missing i cant beleive it ran.

So i have up for grabs
    OS 50 Hyper Carb
    Futaba GY401
    3 x HS65HB servos
    Futaba 3154
    Align 430L Motor
    Jazz 40-6-16

PM me with any reasonable offer
    Cheers
    Richard

          Okay my turn....

T-rex 500 something went badly wrong today I'm sure I lost a servo in the air it just wasn't right.

So 2 Striped JR 3500G Digital servos. Front 2 the rear one is okay !
Receiver split in 2 (case might of just popped open though) Blades,Fly bar, Feathering spindle and probably main shaft. Main blades gone

New painted canopy a mess, Still it took the impact really well,

Max Poly battery was in it and funny enough it has NOT Expanded but is bent and I'm going to cycle it and see what happens

Predator Gasser my OWN Stupid Bloody Fault. Feathering spindle, blade grip, and Blades tail and main.

Predator did make some impressive marks into the ground though

I can fix the gasser then sell it without main blades then I can repair the 500 and get a spare battery or two.

Total Cost of the Day over 300 pounds

Gutted Suspect I might have to repair and then sell the Gasser so I can then fix the T-rex 500.

Midlands normally have Predator parts but nothing listed on the website

There must be something about this week thats bringing on some bad luck for us heli flyers unless its just a case of the nice weather means we actually get to fly witch in turn means more crashes :-( i've just got back from the feild with a very nasty looking trex500, to be honest i can't bring myself to look at it yet but out the corner of my eye it looked bad, 3x9257's buggered, blades, boom, canopy, shafts, main gear, belt and i'm praying the motor and esc are ok but we shall see, i guess mines due to being lazy and not doing anything about the static lock out problem that has been soooooooooooooo well documented i was 4ft off the ground in an inverted hover and then nothing, zipo, no controll at all so she went in like slow motion, flat out into the ground with the motor on full pelt untill i could get the batt diconected, o well, i think i shall now look into the static issue lol. :-(

Me too! I trashed my 450 tonight. It decided to lock out mid tic-toc so I watched it tail slide into the ground. Only just put it back together last night, getting real tedius repairing it. On the plus side my manaic blades suvived again, that 4 good size crashes they have had.

its part of heli flying i suppose...you crash, hopefully learn something from it. rebuild and then go again..the cycle of life.

                chin up guys.

                  Snap.

Was tracking the blades on my 450SE v2 and wasnt watching what the heli was doing but watching the blades for tracking.

For some reason it shot off sideways and met a wall.

                  Main blades
                  Tail blades
                  Main shaft
                  Dampers
                  Tail shaft
                  Boom
                  Tail belt scoured

Re-Built it late last night and its flying ace again, Pity the blades still need tracking.

Just can't get them perfect for some reason.

If you can't get them to track on the plastic head its normally a cracked blade grip on a full ally head I'm not sure. Normally a twiddle of the fine and coarse rods will fix it unless you have bent something and you are missing it? Warped blades possibly?

my most expensive day was about aug last year, drove 100 miles to go fly with a friend. took the Logo 14 out, flying it around, pulled up, lost the tail drive, end of heli, nothing left of it!

then, took the Logo 500 3D in the air, then promptly dumb thumbed it into the deck hard, that one only needed tail end and a few links, but 2 helis and 200 miles it was fairly expencive

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, it really hurts when things like this happen.

My most expensive day was last year early summer, my 12 flight old Knight 3D fully specced up Radix, 9255's, 611 gyro, hyper etc. drove it hard into the deck. walked away with a tail servo for the 611, 2 9255's that were worth repairing and a box of very small parts for the knight. Everything else was jusr scrap inc the engine.
                          All the best
                          Tony.
