Good news from the met office

'The coming summer is expected to be a 'typical British summer', according to long-range forecasts issued today. Summer temperatures across the UK are more likely to be warmer than average and rainfall near or above average for the three months of summer.

However, the risk of exceptional rainfall on the same scale as the summer of last year remains a very low probability. The Met Office is continuing to work with the Environment Agency, SEPA and others across government to ensure that we are ready to meet the challenges that severe weather may present us at any time of the year.

Government Services Director at the Met Office, Rob Varley said: "Our long-range forecasts are proving useful to a range of people, such as emergency planners and the water industry, in order to help them plan ahead. They are not forecasts which can be used to plan a summer holiday or inform an outdoor event."

Head of Forecasting at the Met Office, Brian Golding said: "Seasonal forecasting is a difficult thing to do and this places some limitations on our forecasts. Our predictions for last autumn, winter and spring have all given accurate advice, giving more confidence in our latest summer forecast."

Met Office seasonal forecasts are just one part of the jigsaw in the range of forecasts provided, complementing our shorter-range forecasts and supporting our role, as the nation's official weather forecaster, to help everyone make the most of the weather.'

A typical british summer - what is that exactly?
Our summers are typically exceptionally dry for a bit and exceptionally wet for a while.
so we will have both a drought and a flood.

Forcast for next day is fairly accurate.
Forecast more than 5 days ahead is of very limited meaning.
Forecast beyond a week ahead is total fiction.

(Though certain weather patterns remain for a while usually, such as "wind from the east - three days at least").

General long range forcasting of hot summer, wet winter etc is complete fabriction, but due to the belief in "global warming" money is being poured into it, thus encouraging such "mystic meg" type forcasting that is nearly always wrong.

Ill stick to my own forcasting...

          1. Stick head out of window --- Hair moves violently... No flying
          2. Stick head out of window --- Hair gets wet.... No flying
          3. Stick head out of window --- Not wet and hair not moving... Go flying

This is adaptable to various other hobbys/sports !!!

Generally I believe that the forecast tomorrow is that we will have some weather, any more detail than that seems to involve throwing dead chicken bones on the floor and mumbling in chinglish.

Well if it's persisting down every day next week then that will be my fault.
I took the week off to prepare for my pending big day.
                  Bet it rains
