Helis where you wondered why you bought them? Right now I am sooooo irritated with my Skylift I nearly binned it tonight, it seems like I take 1 step forwards with the damn thing and just when I think I'm getting somewhere it just goes off again, last night fine, got it hovering, tonight it just took off forwards and straight into a wall, don't know the full damage yet as I was too Pi$$ed off to look.

I get the same!
Right now I'm just getting the hang of my cp2, I get one flight, and something else needs replacing/modifying to get the damn thing behaving itself again!
Just took the training skids off as I thought I was getting the hang of it, and... CRASH... back to repiaring it!
(they're back on again now as my wallet can't sustain this!!
)
Chill out matey,
it'll be better tomorrow. Rest assured, you're not alone!

So far it's never done 'exactly' what I want it to do from new, unlike my beloved little CX2, that little thing is 'my precsshhousss, it's ours it is and we wantss..... it.' Oops, sorry, bit to much LOTR.... LOL. Seriously though, that little lady's gone through the mill with me learning to fly her, yet comes back flying right, the Chinook is, well, a complete little sod, won't do what I want at all.John

Biggest bedroom in the house, it was my mom's but I've taken it over as she can't get up the stairs anymore. I've a feeling it's interference, I can handle backdraft from her own rotors, but this was completely weird, it went forward and nothing I could do would stop it. I looked last night and the only damage is a broken blade (I expected all of them to be broken), I think she really needs stripping down and re-building, but I can't be Ar$ed at the moment unless I can convert her to DSM radio. What's making matters worse is I still haven't heard anything about getting my DX6i back after it went up the poke.John

Are you running a 2.4g router in ur house?? and are you running 2.4g? as there is a company i know that use 2.4g router and they build UAVs and use 2.4g TX and every so often they either knock out the router or the model in the work shop.
Even when iv sat in my bedroom working on my heli and i have my laptop on watching live stream on 4OD and i switch my TX i knock my router out and i have to reload the program again.
just something to think of mate if your using 2.4gProud member of the Mk Heli Club

I have a router, what it's on I have no idea, but the 2.4G heli (Blade CX2) is the best, most stable I have. The Chinook is on 35mhz, and that is the one that just won't straighten up and fly right. I've been messing with it practically since I bought it, then when I got a DX6i my plan was to convert it to DSM. Unfortunately it refused to play the game, so is still on 35Mhz at the mo'.
Oh I wish my DX6i was back, then at least I'd have a heli to fly....
Right now it's certainly putting me off anything more expensive, the ruddy Chinook has cost me a fortune, and when I add up the parts I think I'll need this time I may be better off giving up or buying a complete new Skylift.John

In any enclosed space the heli is affected by the downwash, and with the chinook you have 4 blades so at low level it can be a pig to handle, the air is bounced of objects right back onto the heli...... you need to get up to 5ft and then it should be stable.........
Pm me if you need anymore advice on the chinook

Yea been there and got th t-shirt mate, but they don't call this the most difficult RC hobby for nothing.
Just had a word with my supplier and he thinks as my BCX2 is over the 6 mth old stage E-flite will possibly fix rather than replace, I'll know more in 2 days time, but I was rather hoping for a replacement, who wouldn't!
So I can understand how you feel, bad weather has grounded my 450 and I'm most looking forward to doing some tail in practice, she looks all pretty with plenty of places to fly, only Mother Nature is stopping play. lol.
Here's hoping your back to normal asap, but the frustration when it's two steps forward one step back can get you down.

Don't get too fed up this happens to lots of modellers!
When I first learnt to fly it was with a home built mini flying wing, it was rugged and needed to be. One day I would fly fine and then the following all I would do was crash!
I think it was just a learning phase. Since I got the hang of fixed wing and now heli flying, I don't have bad days anymore, just the occasional crash!
Keep going you will get past it!Last edited by Pipistrelli; 23-04-2008, 03:53 PM.regards

5 foot mate? I was hovering above that. Like I said I can handle wash, I just wish I could sort out converting it to DSM, I know after that things would be much nicer.
BTW, thanks for the kind words guys. I think if I'd been struggling on my own the thing would've been in the bin by now.John
