  • Gear set and bearing problem

Stripped the front umbrella gear on the Align torque tube on my Trex 600 for the first time. Bought a new gear set and the bearings for it. Unfortunately, the gears do not come with the bearings installed. No problems except finding a way to get the bearing that slides up closest to the gear to go up onto the shaft of the gear.

Any tricks or tool to use?

put the umbrella gear in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Get it nice and cold and then the bearings will slide down nicely with just gentle pressure.

I use a windscreen wiper arm puller, cheap and very useful on ebay !
Just be sure to not damage the center of the gear , if you use it to pull the bearing back on.

failing that to just fit the bearing all thats required is ahollow tube the tail of the gear slides inside of , use that to push the bearing on ;-)

Just remember never push hard against the gear while its on a hard surface, use some old carpet or a towel to protect the teeth !

        Enjoy
