trim into wind/downwind.

Hovering into wind my heli rolls one way
hovering back to the wind it rolls the other way.
Similar elevator changes with left and right side wind.

Is this inevitable with the into wind, downwind blade speeds? or are some setups less prone to this?

Usually in stronger winds there is more turbulance so you actually notice it less. Last night was very smooth and just 5-8 mph.

ive found that my raptors or evo will do that the most... the knights dont seem half as bad.
Will it not be depending on paddle weight and blades that have effects like this?

Saw a prog on tele the other day about the first real helis to fly at high speeds & they had exactly the same problem of rolling. The explanation was that the blades attcking the wind would give more lift & the blades going away from the wind would get less lift - hence rolling. So much so that the helis often crashed.

If it's not that - got me on that one

It's inevitable
I trim my heli's in no wind, then just fly.
I don't adjust the trim in wind.

What's trim on a helicopter, doesn't exist:-)
OK for F3C flying it is more important and they can be trimmed out to sit nice in the hover but at the expense of cyclic rate.
As has been said it is mainly to do with mixing ratio's and flybar weight, generally the higher flybar input will have more stability but will slow down the cyclic unless you use very light paddles which then defeats the object.
As a rule the higher the head speed and better servo's, blades etc are used then the less noticable this will be.
Colin Mill did some very good articals on this years ago which I sure some one can dig up.

In reality if you want to progess with 3D flying which it sounds like you have been then just learn to live with it.
Anyway I hear you have got a new stiffy to play with now!

I'm forcing myself to practice the B manoevres a bit at the moment and its all a bit twitchy. I might have to setup idle 1 with loads of expo or reduced cyclics or something.

Made a bit of progress over the last couple of days.
I skived off work this afternoon. Looks like the weather will not be good for a few days, and this weekend isn't too good.

East with some north in it is one of the best direction to fly here by the way. No carry - fly up from the bottom of mam tor and its still possibleto escape southof LEEK into wales (best in that direction is to Bala). Looking a bit windy to get your washing out this weekend though.

If your just trying to practise certain manouvers then you could slap some flybar weights on or heavier paddles for now just to make it a little easier and then take them off again when you have it cracked.
Obvously they will slow your cyclic down a bit.

Yep the normal Easter easterlies have come late this year, too cold and windy to have much fun in them and there are no easterly sites for miles around here, trip to you, SE Wales or Malverns which are all a fair way off.
Can't even go slope soaring round here in a easterly:-(

Yes, I kinda gathered as much. I know you would never be tempted!

Now using those align blades on my heli. It seemed to be a fair bit more docile than with the carbons!
