Looking at the photos it appears the only real difference other than servo upgrades is the layout of the cyclic servos and replacement of the elevator lever-arm of the 600 Pro with the anti-rotation bracket of the new 550L... Changes which while possibly slight improvements (FWIW I like the lever-arm design) wont i don't think have any significant effect on flight performance.

I have had another look at it. There isn't really room for a 12 s set up. There is a cross brace and bottom main shaft bearing in the way. Perhaps if the cross brace was modified and the batteries were very thin?

        Good spot.
So it looks like if Align bring a 600 12s version out it would need new frames that were a bit deeper with the battery tray runners set a little lower to allow the tray and battery to pass under the bottom of the main shaft and the bearing... Like today's 600 Pro does or the 700 Dominator.

This seams like a strange design decision on Align's part as it would have been easy to allow the same frames to be used on both a 550 (6s) and 600 (12s)

I really dont get some of their design decisions, but they are far from stupid so must have their reasons.

Do any of the 550s & 600s have a 3rd bearing on the mainshaft, below the gears ?

[The ones I've seen have screw holes in the frames, but not the bearings or long shaft, etc. Just curious.]

No theres no 3rd bearing block as the main shaft isnt long enough.....saying that aligns just announced yet another upgrade similar to the sab hps heads. So maybe the main shaft length could change to fit a 3rd bearing in as like u say the screw holds are there to support one

Dont be put off ive had the trex 550 v1 v2 v3 dfc n 550L. I always seem to sell them and go back to them.ive been runnin my 550L hard for 4mins n landing with 40%+ left in the packs. They fly still feel really light in the air and is rock solid with the gpro gyro

N if I had the choice out of them all I would choose the 550L without a dowt
