  • Just killed my sentimental favourite. :-(

Out in the field for a quiet unwind after work. Hovering nicely, slight breeze, nothing to worry about. Start doing a couple of gentle circuits, take it up to around 25 feet, and, i think, something on the swash like a control arm/link failed. The Heli started pitching forward and headed straight down into the hill side. I tried my best to recover, but at last alas with my lack of skill etc, i recognised that I could do no more and hit TH.
It's weird how you get attached to your first "proper" heli that you learn to hover, fly 8's etc on.
Quick spare parts internet search takes it up to around £100. I think the servos, gyro and tail belt was about all that survived! Even the flippin' air frame was snapped!

Whilst your wallet is out, treat it to a set of Revolution carbon blades (about £25 delivered) and nylon washers (either a single 1.5mm or 2 0.75mm each side)

My 450 3D my first 'proper' CP heli; taken out of the naughty corner last-week after a crash last year, rebuilt for sentimental reasons and re-maidened last Sunday. It flies a dream with the new blades.

I also treated it to some ally blade grips, however that's more for bling reasons than fly-ability.

p.s. If you do decide to do that I will happily send you a couple of washers as I've a great big bag of them now!!!

I may just treat it to a set of Revoltions! The parts bill is not as bad as previously thought (now at £80), so I do have a little extra left in the budget.
If I could poach a couple of washer off you mate, I'll happily send you the postage etc to cover. :-)

You could save yourself a few quid by getting Align factory seconds CF blades. They're only seconds for minor blemishes, otherwise are fine. £12 for a set!

Align 325E Slight Seconds Carbon Main Blades

Bear in mind also that your £80 will include many parts that come in twos - eg. boom, main gear, etc. If you haven't rebuilt it before, I found the repair videos on Blade's YouTube channel a real help when I had my first 450-3D crash.

Top tip - DON'T REMOVE the flybar! (assuming it's bent!). Use the new one to push out the old. Otherwise you'll have to rebuild the cage which is a right PITA.

True! I'm feeling better about this already. :-)
Great idea on the flybar too. I learned that the hard way last time I rebuilt the head! Thank you Tom! :-)
