  • Quality blow torch / gas soldering iron?

Hi all, having just broke my little blow torch i'm wondering if anyone can recommend a decent quality, hobby grade blow torch that can also be used as a soldering iron? Would come in very handy... looking for something half decent for a fair price.. dont want to pay out too much though.

    Any recommends?

    Cheers

    I use one of these
Works a treat and can be used with any disposable lighter

Comes with a refillable lighter inside so a can of butane and you're good to go for a very long time indeed

Hi Matt I've been using one of these Pro-Iroda Solderpro 70 Gas Soldering Iron Kit | Maplin for a while but it was on offer, not now though.
The iron on it's own is http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/pro-iroda-...ing-iron-n95ap
Really impressed with it so far.

+1 on the Pro-Iroda Solderpro range. I went for the 120, bigger is always better, right?

Excellent bit of kit that has coped easily with all I've needed to do and quite versatile to with the range of attachments but make sure you get two or three gas refill cans as these things can really eat the stuff up.

            Nice find Tim.

I bought my 120 kit from Maplin when it was on offer. But it looks like Maplin do the kits anymore just torch hence the Farnell link in my previous post.

Cheers for the replies guys, my original one was a cheapo unit which did work well and I used it more than I expected to which is why I was looking for something better this time - was looking to pay around £30 ideally for a good one.

Thanks for the links everyone - Mark, that one is cheap but isnt too disimilar to the one i just broke and was happy to pay more for something better this time round. Paul, that was more along the lines I was thinking, but was hoping for more soldering power - then SGD posted the 120 version which was bang on but a little more than I wanted pay.. So a big thanks to Tim for the link for the 120 at just £25 posted - what a bargain!

So I've bought one of those - the iroda solderpro 120 for £25 delivered - so thanks to everyone for the help! Glad I asked on here about it =)

              Cheers
              Matt

P.S. if anyone else wants one, be quick theres only 1 left at £25 (apparently ;-) )

I rarely use my gas iron but on the last occasion I did I didn't take into account its exhaust and watched a leg of a Hubsan melt off Electric for me whenever possible.

Had a play with it today - well pleased with it and can see it replacing my soldering iron as well as being used as a blow torch - really nice, quality bit of kit =)

                      Would recommend!
